  • Basi Pilates (Fitness Clubs / Roppongi)
  • 2012/07/29
  • There is nothing worse than an instructor barking out directions in an aggressive manner. At Basi Pilates in Roppongi, you will be gently directed and encouraged in a positive and comfortable environment by english speaking staff.
  • Kristyna McDonald's Pearls (Jewelry / Tokyo)
  • 2012/07/28
  • I love my new pearl collection! I especially love to mix and match my multicolored strands with black, gold and white colors. Kristyna's designs include rings, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces.
  • Mark McDonald (Fitness Clubs / Tokyo)
  • 2012/07/28
  • If you are serious about getting fit and you are tired of wasting money on gyms, gym equipment then look no further. Mark McDonald will give you the advice and expertise you need and you will be fittest you have ever been. He will offer strength training exercises and nutritional advice.
I found him at the Tokyo American Club.
  • Toufuya Ukai (Traditional Japanese / Azabu-juban)
  • 2012/07/28
  • If you would like to be transported back to ancient Japanese Times then this is the place to go. With beauty, elegance and mystique, you will be taken to a private room and served traditional Japanese cuisine presented with precision and most importantly, impeccable taste.
  • essence k (Massage / Azabu-juban)
  • 2012/07/28
  • I had back surgery just over 3 years ago so I have medical concerns. She really knows what she is doing, is highly professional, and she is very concerned with her client's well-being.
  • Estetica Brasil Beauty (Beauty-Others / Azabu-juban)
  • 2012/07/12
  • Nothing fancy but the do a nice job and they have warm and friendly staff. It is right down the big hill from The American Club so it is VERY convenient for club members.
  • Argento ASO: Ginza (Italian / Ginza)
  • 2012/07/12
  • Not a 2 star, only a 1 star. Its decor has gone downhill, they need to renovate. Small touches like the place settings, interior, are not up to par for a 2 star. The food is excellent indeed, it has great, friendly service. The wine pairing is superb. However, they were informed in advance that I was treating a friend to lunch for her birthday. I asked to receive the bill when my friend went to use the ladies' room so I could discreetly pay it. However, the bill was handed to both of us so my friend could see the cost. As I mentioned, when you go to a 2 star, you expect it to be perfect.
  • Ohara's (French / Gotanda)
  • 2012/07/12
  • Deserves more than a one star rating in my opinion. It has all of the qualities of a fine food restaurant; ambiance, decor, service, and the food, the food is spectacular. They use smoked wood chips to grill the scallop and salmon appetizers and it is heavenly. Slicing through the beef tenderloin is like slicing through candy floss...so succulent. It is run by a husband and wife team which adds to its charm and warmth. I will definitely go back again and again.
  • Nail Quick: Shinagawa (Nail salons / Shinagawa)
  • 2012/06/13
  • It looks like I will be returning to May's Garden Salon in Roppongi Hills. I gave Nail Quick a shot because it is close to my home. Unfortunately, they mixed up a treatment that I booked on one occasion. On another occasion, they mixed up times. It is not due to a language barrier because I speak Japanese and I HAVE NEVER had difficulty with booking times and treatments at May's (I had been going to this salon for 3 years).
When I gently scolded them for the mix up, several staff members were unprofessional and defensive bordering on rude. No apology was made which is RARE in Japan where the customer is always right.
  • Sanno Hospital (Allergy & Immunology / Akasaka)
  • 2012/06/13
  • I am only giving Sanno Byoin 3.5 because of the LONG wait times. The nurses and doctors are courteous & professional with the exception of one male doctor.
Be prepared to wait for up to an hour for an appointment. You should also be prepared to wait up to 30-30 minutes to pay on the 1ST floor and to receive medication.
I find some of the receptionists to be a bit silly and unprofessional at times but it isn't excessively, bad behaviour.
It is EXTREMELY expensive as well.
  • Reikipuncture (Acupuncture / Ebisu)
  • 2012/06/13
  • Amina-san is a lovely lady who does home visits as well. She is professional, always arrives right on time and most importantly, has calming, relaxing abilities.
I feel more relaxed, clear headed, and rested after receiving reikipuncture. It isn't an aggressive treatment but a holistic one.
  • ==CLOSED ==Hayato New york (Hair Salons / Omotesando, Aoyama)
  • 2012/03/24
  • Great customer service. They really take care of you. They do just as good of a job on my hair highlights as foreign run salons in Tokyo.

Note: They have moved to the Roppongi area.
  • Gold Salon Tokyo (Hair Salons / Azabu-juban)
  • 2011/12/31
  • I was approached by a hair stylist on the street so I decided to give them a shot. When I had my hair extensions removed (put in by another salon), it was a very painful experience. The Japanese male stylist wasn't compassionate at all and frequently rolled his eyes. It was very unprofessional on his part.
I returned on a different date to get my hair highlighted. The same hair stylist (who is very confident in his training from London), completely missed a chunk of hair on the fringe. I will not be returning.
The owner of the salon has gone back to Australia (I was told) after the earthquake. Only Japanese stylists remain (at least on the two occasions I went there).
  • Bulgari Il Cafe (Italian / Harajuku)
  • 2011/12/03
  • A great place to go once in awhile for a treat. Great quality coffee and food but very minimalist in quantity. The service and presentation was excellent.
  • Elana Jade Organic Beauty Salon (Cosmetics & Beauty Supplies / Azabu-juban)
  • 2011/12/03
  • Unfortunately, I have had to downgrade my review. The owner of this salon is not professional. She made a comment about the other Australian run salon's owner and called her previous past profession into question which I don't care about. What I do care about is work ethics and professionalism and it isn't found here.
That and it is VERY dirty. The mirrors need a cleaning and the bathrooms are filthy. Do not use the hand towels, they are not being washed.
  • IDC Furniture (Interior Design & Furniture / Others)
  • 2011/12/03
  • If you have the yen then look no further. It is true in life that you get what you pay for. What you receive at IDC is excellent quality and excellent service.
  • Ralph Lauren (Clothing / Harajuku, Omotesando)
  • 2011/09/28
  • The staff are unbelievably rude. I was made to feel as though I were doing them a favor buy purchasing goods from their store. This type of behavior is unacceptable everywhere but especially unacceptable in Japan.
  • United Dental Office (Dentists / Azabu-juban)
  • 2010/11/15
  • The dentist has been trained overseas and he is familiar with the latest techniques. His office is clean and he has the latest equipment. However, he will try to sell you things such as whitening products. Also, his original secretary just retired and the new one cannot speak English well. She has a tendency to mix up appointments so beware
  • Villeroy & Boch (Interior Design & Furniture / Jiyugaoka)
  • 2010/10/26
  • Smart and casual kitchenware. Tons of cups and dishes and utensils with unique designs that are a little bit pricey. It is a German brand, very sturdy and well made. Good quality goods with style
  • Odaiba Seaside Park (Night View Spots / Odaiba)
  • 2010/10/25
  • I have always thought that Odaiba is underrated. It is a great little island to visit for the day to take in some shopping at venus fort or the other shopping galleries. There are many restaurants that offer an incredible view of the Rainbow Bridge at night. As for the Park, I wouldn't even compare it to an American park just like I wouldn't compare and American Park to Odaiba's. It is a nice place to relax and unwind and watch the boats go by with a backdrop setting of the Rainbow Bridge. If anything, it is more exciting than most parks because you are able to watch something other than the wind blowing in the trees.
