  • Condomania: Shibuya (Fun Shops / Shibuya)

  • Like other locations of Condomania, the shop is small. But in a small space you can have quite a selection of condoms. And they do have a nice selection. They've got a wide variety of conventional brands, colors, flavors, lubricants, etc. It is much more of a novelty shop than a toy shop, though. Penis straws, gag-condoms, boobie stress toys, etc. are much more condomania's thing. All in all, a pretty fun place to go.
  • Tokyu Hands: Shibuya (Fun Shops / Shibuya)

  • A great department store with a little bit of everything, Tokyu Hands is a great place to start looking for anything you might need if you don't know where to get it. It is particularly good for DIYers, but has an extensive selection of items for home decor and furnishings, traditional Japanese collectibles and gifts for friends back home, and a fantastic "seasonal" section for Halloween costumes and Christmas decorations. The only thing to remember about Tokyu Hands in Shibuya is that, like all stores in Shibuya, it is extremely crowded, particularly when compared to other locations in the same chain. Also, the split-leveling of the store makes it less friendly for navigating (the floors are offset from each other by half flights of stairs...so there's 2A, 2B, and 2C, with 2A and 2C on the same level, 2B offset by half a floor). Awkward layout aside, is really is a great store.
  • Don Quijote (Fun Shops / Shibuya)
  • 2008/11/17
  • A giant warehouse crammed with boxes of stuff that seems to have just inexplicably found its way to the same place, Don Quijote is unique. And INCREDIBLY crowded. All the time. Some other locations seem to have peak times, like Friday and Saturday nights. But this location is always jammed and the lines for the cash registers will make you feel like you're waiting in line at an absurdly packed amusement park. The variety of products is extensive, but actually getting into the aisle you want is a challenge. It's an excellent place for cheap kitchen electronics (microwaves, toaster ovens, blenders, etc.) and they have a good selection of imported non-perishable foods. But again, the number of people swarming this location make it far from desirable...hit up a different location on a weekday morning for less hassle.
  • Loft: Shibuya (Fun Shops / Shibuya)
  • 2008/11/17
  • This unique quasi-department store has a lot of really fun and interesting products that make great gifts. The atmosphere is really great here, and it is a really fun shopping experience. The only thing to note is that they carry the same products as other department stores and boutiques but for much higher prices. If you know where to look, you can certainly do your window shopping here and do your actual purchasing in other places for quite a bit less.
